Planning a playground project doesn’t have to be complicated!
We help do all the heavy lifting. If you are overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, we’ve got you covered!
When you start out along this process, we will need the following information from you:
~ An approximate budget. This can evolve along the way if you need changes to the design, adjusting the amount up or down.
~ The ages of the children who will be using the playground. Certain pieces are a better fit for certain ages. We also know which pieces are the most popular with the kids at different ages.
~The area you have available for the playground. There are a few things that our team needs to consider when designing your perfect playground. Certain pieces need more room than others.
~ If you require accessibility features. We can adapt your playground design to include children in wheelchairs, or others with limited mobility.
After we have this basic information, we get to work on drawings. Mandy is our in house playground designer extraordinaire! She has extensive experience in designing the most functional and fun playgrounds! Mandy will then send you the drawings of the space she has created for you.
Now is where you come in. You will need to decide what kind of surfacing you would like to go with (There is another blog post on choosing surfacing), as well as what kind of install you would like. We offer Turn key, Full and Supervised. We can send you a sheet outlining the differences between these. Each is a different level of involvement from you. You decide how much work you would like to put into the install.
Then there is fundraising. This is usually the longest part of the process. We have some great ideas to help you through this. Along with fundraising, many groups also like to apply for grants. If you would like any information on grants, just let us know.
Once you have funds in place and give us the go ahead, the paperwork gets filled out and signed. We then place the order from our supplier. Playground orders take about 8 to 10 weeks (10 – 12 in the peak of the season) to arrive at our shop. Then we schedule in a day that works for everyone for the install! We gather information from you to make the install smooth for our hard working installers.
We will send out information on what your duties will be ahead of the install. We will tell you information such as what equipment you need, how much concrete to order, as well as what time you need to arrive on site.
We are also always here to answer any questions you may have!
